Pacsun’s March 22nd email, subject “Spend $50, get up to $30! Girls tanks/camis for $10, guys tees $10.49. Stock up!” My favorite part of this email is the line “TANK ME, TEE ME!” I did a doubletake when browsing through my emails, the clever copy and bold typeface immediately drew me in. Humor is scarce in emails, and it most likely depend on which brand talking about. Pacsun’s attitude and voice is apparent on all aspects of their emails, with conversational dialogue and hand-written subtext typefaces.

Despite the sweet design, this email has a large amount of artifacting and could have been outputed a lot cleaner. A trick to achieve this is to slice the images according to characteristics and taking advantage of PNG characteristics (smaller file size, clean solid colors) and only keeping the photographic portions of the email JPG. Overall, an appealing and attractive that makes me want to “SHOP NOW” (!!!). Pacsun also does a great job as part of the email layout of promoting the social media end without using the words “Facebook” or “Twitter” on the bottom portion.
